Prequel Possibilities

Hi, folks,

Allow me to catch you up on what I'm working on right now.

For the last few months I have been planning, outlining, and researching ideas for a sequel to Gizmo. I know... You haven't read the first one yet. While waiting on inspiration to strike for the first chapter of the sequel, I started writing what I thought would be a short story about one of my characters, Cedric, the bear. But, I think I have more than just a short story.

My original plan was to write a short story for each of my secondary characters (that's nine short stories). I have two options. Either I can continue with the short story plan and put together a short story anthology, or I can string them all together into one book, a prequel. No matter which one I decide to do, it will be the size of a book.

I still need to decide on the timeline of when each of my characters come into the forest for the first time. I like the idea of stringing it all together as a prequel, but that requires a lot more organization than a series of stand-alone short stories.

Either way, I would like to offer something special to my readers. I would like to send you Cedric's story. It probably won't make sense completely until you read Gizmo in the spring, but I love Cedric. He is very dear to me, the first secondary character that I developed.

So, if you would like to read Cedric's story, go down to the bottom of the page and subscribe to my newsletter. I'll send it to you soon!

Here's a quote from the short story:

“I saw that person give you a hug yesterday. What kind of a bear gives hugs?” The bird squealed.
”I’m a circus bear.” Cedric grumbled.
”Oh, neat! Do a trick!”
”I don’t do tricks.” Cedric smiled.
”Then what do you do?”

Keep in mind that Cedric's story is not edited yet. I would love know your feedback, especially if you let your child read it!
